Since 1992, The Rodon Group, a sister company of K'NEX Brands  has manufactured over 34 billion parts for the K'NEX building toy system.  Yes, you read that correctly...34 Billion! K’NEX Brands was established to make and sell what has become one of the world’s leading integrated construction systems for children and is America’s STEM building solution. They have won over 250 international awards and recognitions, are focused on Building Worlds Kids Love and encourage youngsters to “imagine, build and play."

The New York Toy Fair is coming up in mid-February and provides an ideal opportunity for K'NEX to introduce their 2015 product line, consisting of 47 new products and two new brands. The new products are geared to a growing audience of young girls looking to use toys for building science, technology, engineering and math skills, but also action outdoor play that traditionally had been the domain of boys. Mighty Makers, consists of a line of construction toys designed to empower girls through creative and stimulating building ideas. Created by an all-female marketing and design team, the Mighty Makers building sets encourage girls ages 7+ to build BIG ideas. Each STEM-based set includes colorful rods, connectors, panels, engaging story-based instructions that follow the life of the included female figure and an exploration card for additional educational fun.  Mighty Makers Toy ad - plane made of k'nex a girl pilot doll and a blue bird

We talk a lot about STEM at Rodon and K'NEX and participate in Manufacturing Day each year to help support the initiative.   A recent report from the Manufacturing Institute entitled "Roadmap to Education Reform" highlighted the weakness in the education of our children in the core STEM subjects.  Citing research from The National Defense Industrial Association, 74% of students between 5th and 12th grade, do not have access to or interest in math and science coursework. According
to Kristen Krikorian, Director of Marketing at K'NEX, "STEM jobs are increasing faster than non-STEM jobs and the need for educated and excited workers is ever-growing. We’ve noticed a lack of women pursuing careers in STEM and we want to help change that.”

The Mighty Makers line includes building sets Up, Up and Away, Fun at the Fair, Deep Sea Dive, Home Designer and my personal favorite, the Going Green set.  This set includes tools to help build a garden, greenhouse or flower box, over 90 K'NEX parts and pieces, two figures --named Zoe and Roland, gardening tools, flowers, foliage and more.

The second line to be unveiled at the NY Toy Fair is the K-FORCE Build and Blast line which invites kids ages 8+ to construct customized blasters, big or small, single or multi-shot, with endless possibilities — the only limit is your imagination! The introductory line includes 8 different kinds of blasters, buildable targets, and foam dart
packs. The K-FORCE line includes the following building sets: Mega Boom, Dual Cross, Battle Bow, K-20X, K-10X, Mini Cross, 30 Dart Pack and Target and 10 Dart Pack and Target.

“K’NEX is known for inspiring creativity in kids around the world,” said Michael Araten, President and CEO of K’NEX. “The 2015 product line includes amazing coasters, fun-dead zombies, customizable blasters, robotics and so much more! It is an excellent representation of what loyal K’NEX builders expect and new consumers want—amazing value, interactivity, and building fun!”

If you're planning to attend the New York Toy Fair (February 14-17), stop by the K'NEX booth (#4872) say "Hi!" and check out these exciting new products.  They will be available for purchase Fall 2015 at and toy retailers nationwide.
